Crossroad Solutions Coach
Training Program

For Deaf professionals and individuals who wish to be
Deaf coaches, Crossroad Solutions Coach offers an
online six-course coach training program with live video
conferencing.

The program is recognized as an accredited coach
training program (ACTP) by the International Coaching
Federation (ICF).

All online classes are conducted in sign language.
The program starts in January annually.

Students accepted for the January 22, 2018-July 31,
2019 program are members of Cohort 7.

This program creates transformational learning for
participants through a combination of concepts,
practices and real-time coaching practice.

Students receive feedback and hands-on learning
experiences that are consistent in the development
of coaching skills.

Throughout the program, students will interact with
the instructor, fellow students, guests and alumni.

Upon completion of the program and passing the
certificate exam, a Professional Coach Certificate
(PCC) is awarded through the International Coaching
Federation (ICF).

Coaching Philosophy

The Coach Training program is unique to serve
deaf and hard of hearing prospective professionals
to obtain training in coaching in a highly visual
environment.

The program will cover three basic domains that
the coaches embody daily.

1. Being What it means to “be” a coach.
2. Doing What coaches “do."
3. Using Tools that coaches “use.”

The focus of the program are seven fundamental
elements are essential in the training of outstanding
professional coaches.

5. Core coaching skills and techniques.
6. Explore real world applications.
7. Highly visual interactive with emphasis on
    practice and practical application.

Program Goals

1. To provide students with a solid foundation of
    coaching knowledge and skills required to
    become an effective coach.

2. To provide a symposium for students to experience
    new and deeper levels of self awareness and social
    awareness required to be an effective coach.

3. To enable students to use their life experiences,
    skills and knowledge to improve the quality of life
    and the workplacefor deaf and hard of hearing.

Model of Coaching

The coaching training program will not have one
specific coaching method. Students will be introduced
to and experience a variety of coaching approaches
that are available in the coaching world.

Through structured exercises, demonstrations and
feedback, the student will experience what it takes
to co-create coaching conversations. In addition,
the students will be required to research selected
topics of coaching such as leadership, spirituality
or wellness.

The training will follow the ICF core competencies and
students will learn how to work effectively as coaches
with individuals and groups.

Program Process

This rigorous coaching training program prepares
students for the ICF Professional Certified Coach
(PCC) level of proficiency.

The program includes six required sequential courses
for a total of 193 hours which are 154 hours of coach-
specific training and offers hands-on live coaching
interactions, thirty hours of required intersession
coaching and ten hours of mentor coaching.
The online program will be conducted in sign language
through online videoconferencing and will follow the ICF
core competencies guidelines.

The six courses are in sequence, building on acquired
skills developed in the previous courses.

Students receive 24 coach specific training hours for
each course for a total of 144 hours.

Upon successful completion of the program, the
student applies to ICF for certification, submits
all required documents and takes a certification exam.

The PCC designation can only be confirmed by ICF
when all the requirements are met to their satisfaction.

Once certified, it is the student’s responsibility
to keep the certificate current.

Program Format

The courses will be provided online with a blackboard,
video chat room and videoconferencing software.

Each course will be face-to-face learning for 2.5 hours
per week for ten weeks.

Students need to complete the assignments,
participate in the discussion groups and interactive
hands-on coaching practices, and complete pro bono/
paid coaching hours within the six courses.

The course will have 4 to 12 students per class.

CSC 01 Coaching Fundamentals
In this first coaching course, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of coaching skills, International Coach Federation (ICF) core competencies and ethics guidelines and standards.
Students will learn the essence of coaching relationships and the coaching process. In addition, aspiring coaches will learn the groundwork with individuals and groups that will be expanded upon in subsequent courses.
There will be interactive hands-on small group instruction and supervised practice in coaching skills, taught in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies and Code of Ethics.  
 
CSC 02 Coaching Presence with Intention
This second course focuses on how students can mindfully navigate the coaching conversation.
Students will deepen their coaching relationship with their presence and intention using the whole persons' interconnectness of mind, language, emotion and body in their coaching practice.
There will be interactive hands-on small group instruction and supervised practice in coaching skills, taught in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies and Code of Ethics.  
 
CSC 03 Frameworks for Co-Creating
        the Coaching Conversation
This third course is an exploration of the frameworks, methods of coaching and practice applying these
while coaching.
Students will learn the stages of adult development
with an emphasis on their relevance for coaching.
Students will experience a variety of coaching approaches.
Through structured exercises, demonstrations and feedback, the student will experience what it takes
to co-create coaching conversations.
There will be 20 hours of small group instruction and supervised practice in coaching skills, taught in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies and
Code of Ethics.  
 
CSC 04 Developing Coaching Mastery
In this fourth course, students will have opportunities to hone coaching skills and increase coaching mastery through being a coach, coachee and observer.
They will practice using the tools that result in building strong relationships, conducting effective coaching conversations and successfully completing the coaching process.
Students will collect and customize a comprehensive toolkit of best practices and exchange resources with one another.
They will create action plans for implementing course learning and their continued development.
There will be 24 hours of small group instruction and supervised practice in coaching skills, taught in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies and
Code of Ethics.  
 
CSC 05 Trends and Best Practices in
        the Coaching Field
This fifth application-oriented course is designed
to supplement student’s fundamental knowledge
and skills.
It provides an opportunity to explore and deepen their knowledge of a coaching specialty of their choosing for example (e.g. give life coaching, leadership coaching, family coaching, spiritual coaching).
With approval of the instructor, the individual student designs and implements a course of study in their coaching specialty using projects, and/or readings.
The class will be run as a seminar, with students responsible for participating in exercises, leading
group discussions and providing research case
presentations each week.  
 
CSC 06 Integrating and Cultivating Lifelong Learning
         (3 Days: Webinar or In-Person Class)
This sixth course will provide an opportunity for students to reflect on and integrate their coaching experiences, and the insights and skills learned in preceding courses.
They will identify and integrate the frameworks, practices, applications and resources that best fit
their individual area of professional expertise.  


(Minimum of 154 hours of Coaching-Specific
Documented Hours to obtain a Coaching
Coaching Certificate through ICF.

2.5 hours of instructional hours each week for
10 weeks, 10 coaching mentoring hours and
30 hours of Pro Bono/Paid Coaching Hours.)

Policies on Admission to the Program

The instructor will review each student's current
resume or CV and screen for their qualifications
prior to the admission of the program.

The students are expected to fulfill the program
expectations, demonstrate coaching competenties
completing the assignments and financial obligations.

The application fee is nonrefundable.

Tuition and fees are processed by Crossroad Solutions
Coach Training Center. Students may pay their tuition and fees online or via mail prior to each course.

Refunds are not given for withdrawal from courses after
the first week.

Monthly payments are negotiable.

Tuition can be paid in full or monthly with check

Program Eligibility Requirements

To enter the program, the applicant must have:

1. At least an undergraduate degree.
    Training and/or professional experience is
    preferred in the areas of coaching, leadership,
    human resources, organization development,
    counseling, deaf education, rehabilitation,
    deaf community or related fields.

    history and achievements.

4. Fluency in American Sign Language.

5. Computer with reliable internet connection
    and webcam.

Registration

Upon application approval, the applicant will receive
an e-mail of acceptance with a link to the page for
registration for the program and first course.

Current students will register for each course
as scheduled in the course registration page.
Information will be provided in the first course.

Deborah is a professional certified coach (PCC) as
recognized by the International Coach Federation (ICF).
Deborah is a certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC)
and has a bachelors degree in Deaf Education and a
masters in Deafness Rehabilitation and Counseling.

Deborah got her coaching training from Georgetown
University’s Leadership Coaching Certificate program,
Adler School of Professional Coaching and The School
of The Work through Byron Katie.

Deborah coaches one-to-one and leads interactive
workshops, conferences and retreats on life and
leadership development for Deaf and signing communities.

Deborah designs highly interactive coaching and
partnership programs that maximize potential and
empower individuals to achieve the greatness in them.

Deborah teaches the professional coach training
online program through her company, Crossroad
Solutions Coach, LLC and has taught at Gallaudet
University.

CCE Note: The Coaching Training Program through
Crossroad Solutions Coach, LLC is approved for
193 ICF Coach-Specific Training Hours as an
accredited coach training program (ACTP).
These hours are also pre-approved as CCEUs
for the purpose of renewing a credential.
